3rd Annual Women’s Summit

The Office of Student Life’s Multicultural Center and partners bring you the 3rd Annual Women’s Summit: Are You For Real? Women’s Images in Reality Television. We will be featuring Jennifer Pozner, author of Reality Bites Back. Participants will explore how images of women and men in the media can affect self-image as well as the perceptions of others. This reinforcement can lead to physical, emotional, and psychological issues. It is time to bring the “real” in reality, back for women and men! Most women (and men) appearing in ads are shadows of their former selves being photoshopped and morphed into looking perfect when they are not and neither are the rest of us.  Let’s get together and get REAL! Annual Women’s Tea!

After much excitement, the Annual Women’s Tea: Hats and Gloves is announced for 2013! The event will be held during Women’s month on Friday, March 29th at noon. Each year we hast a social and vintage shopping excursion to find the perfect hat and gloves to compliment the event. This year will be no different as we search for bigger and better to properly celebrate our amazing nominees. As always, premium coffee, tea, and light fare will accompany the event.

Over the past two years, The Women’s Tea has become Unplugging Society’s largest event. With over 75 in attendance, it always serves as an truly remarkable event recognizing strong female role models in the Columbus and Ohio State community. We have celebrated award recipients from Professors of the Arts and Humanities Department to Executive Directors of Ohio State’s Inter-professional Commission of Ohio. We anticipate exciting nominees this year as in the past and encourage anyone to submit a nomination through the document below. All submissions can be sent to unplugging.society@gmail.com. You can find the nomination form here:

We look forward to seeing you there!
